- I am a self-taught artist. I started out doing drawings in 1989 as a means of something to do with my hands so I could stop smoking. And it worked! I still do not smoke to date. From there I made greeting cards and drawings as gifts for my friends and family. Next I did tattoos for about five (5) years as a source of income and for fun. It was then that my grandfather, his name is wicasa mani (walking man), talked me into trying my hand at painting and I've been painting ever since. (note: native american's as a rule do not capitalize their names). I am a native american and my name sungmanitu tanka olowan means singing wolf. For those of you who want to know. I live in a rural setting with my wife, and we enjoy the quiet life. We garden, take walks to the pond and woods, and enjoy rides on our motorcycle. Life is good when you find that special someone to share it with.
